Плотное образование, выявляемое в интерфазных эукариотических клетках: ассоциировано с ядрышковым организатором nucleolar organizer и включает молекулы рибонуклеопротеинов (предшественников рибосом); часто в клетке содержится 1-2 Я., иногда - более 2; Я. может формироваться в цитоплазме на внехромосомных копиях генов рРНК (например, у некоторых инфузорий); Я. включает фибриллярный центр fibrillar center, фибриллярный fibrillar component и гранулярный granular component компоненты.

Ядрышко — сферическая или глобулярная полуядерная (subnuclear) органелла, связанная с ядрышковым организатором хромосомы. Я. состоит в основном из первичных рДНК-транскриптов, рибосомных белков и набора др. белков, таких, как РНК-полимераза I (A) и РНК-метилазы, а также включает в себя фибриллярный центр и фибриллярный и гранулярный компоненты. В активном состоянии Я. экспортирует большое количество предшественников рибосом. В основном в клетке имеется 1-2 Я., иногда более двух. Я. может быть сформировано в цитоплазме на внехромосомных копиях генов рРНК (напр., у некоторых инфузорий).
